Event Summaries
NPEF sponsors a number of annual events throughout the year. Please plan to join us!
Newport to A Tea
An annual tea held at Salve Regina’s Ochre Court Mansion. 22 tables are hosted, decorated and set by community members. A silent auction, champagne reception and high tea make this a lovely event for a great cause.
2009-10 Date: Wednesday, March 10, 2010, RSVP by February 14th.
Annual Showcase Celebrating Newport Schools' Students & Teachers
Newport Public Education Foundation hosts an annual Showcase celebrating the many accomplishments of Newport Public Schools' students and teachers. The Showcase features student work including art displays, live musical and theatrical performances, athletic demonstrations, and exhibits of projects from each school, including science projects. The recipients of NPEF-funded Teacher Excellence Grants are invited to display their project and its positive impact on our students. Other enrichment programs operating in the Newport Public Schools are also invited to participate. Tours of Thompson Middle School, Newport's newest school facility, are given by student council members throughout the event.
Admission to the event is free, and the public is invited. The Rotary Club of Newport provides food for sale at family-friendly prices.
2001-10 Date: Thursday, April 29, 2010 (5:00-7:30pm, Thompson Middle School)
Mother’s Day 5K Run and Walk
The Newport Public Education Foundation sponsors the Mother’s Day 5K Run For Education and Family Fun Run/Walk along Ocean Drive. The Run engages the entire community and attracts more than 500 participants. All proceeds benefit the Foundation’s Excellence Grants.
Sponsored by local businesses, friends and organizations, the Run offers a wonderful opportunity to show support for our public schools. Running and walking mothers receive flowers and chocolates.
2009-10 Date: Sunday, May 9, 2010
Student Art Exhibit
The Newport Public Education Foundation and The Newport Restoration Foundation partner to support the Art Education Program.

The Student Art Exhibit will be on display on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from Noon - 3pm at Easton's Beach Rotunda. Click for more information.
